Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale: Two different characters, one Alfa Romeo

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale represents two different vehicles, both literally and figuratively. This rare supercar can be offered with a biturbo V6 engine or an all-electric powertrain. While this represents two different approaches to performance, zamIt now marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one for Alfa Romeo.

After a conversation with Larry Dominique, Vice President and General Manager of Alfa Romeo North America Operations, we learned more about the dual nature of this special supercar. Yes, this model is a nod to the classic 1960 Stradale of the late 33s, and the production line of only 33 cars sold out long before its August 30 debut. But the purpose of this supercar from the start was the same while honoring the past. zamAt the same time, it was also shaping the future of the company.

“It's one of the reasons we wanted to present two different powertrains on the 33 project,” Dominique explains. “First of all, it's an opportunity to show that we, as Alfa Romeo, can make an Alfa Romeo, whatever the powertrain. We will be able to offer Alpha DNA, the Alpha experience, regardless of the powertrain definition. So as long as the car qualifies as an Alfa Romeo, the powertrain will be of secondary importance.”

As for the 33 buyers, Dominique tells us the majority prefer the V6 to the electric powertrain. While he didn't give specific details, he states that "only a few" electric vehicles are working on it. In addition, the planned start date of production is June 24, 2024 and this date is the same. zamexplains that at the moment it coincides with Alfa Romeo's 114th anniversary. That's why customers are given the opportunity to decide whether they want the ultimate Alfa Romeo supercar or the first electric vehicle.
