ZF at Busworld Türkiye 2024 Fair

ZF, the world's largest commercial vehicle supplier, will present its latest technologies to bus manufacturers and fleets that further reduce carbon emissions and provide safer and connected public transportation at the Busworld fair to be held in Istanbul between 29-31 May. As a first in the country, ZF's new generation electric axle for low-floor city buses, AxTrax 2 LF, will stand out at the ZF stand. In terms of safety, new ADAS solutions will also be exhibited, including the Collision Mitigation System (CMS) developed by ZF for city buses and the electric parking brake OnHand EPH. Visitors will also be presented with a live demonstration of ZF's digital fleet management solution, Bus Connect, as well as the advanced fleet orchestration platform SCALAR.

Decarbonization: Advanced electric drive system

  • For the first time in Turkey, ZF will offer the advanced AxTrax 2 LF electric portal axle for low-floor city buses. Exemplary of ZF's latest e-mobility development efforts, the new axle delivers enhanced performance to further support the commercial vehicle industry's transformation towards a decarbonised future.
  • The AxTrax 2 LF forms part of ZF's next-generation modular e-mobility kit, sharing innovative components such as an electric motor with hairpin type winding technology and an 800 V silicon carbide (SiC) inverter. Continuous power up to 360 kW and torque up to 37.300 NmzamThanks to its i torque, it provides an impressive 29% climbing ability for articulated buses with a gross vehicle weight of up to 20 tonnes with a single drive axle.
  • Same zamAxTrax 10 LF, which currently offers up to 2% energy savings compared to the previous generation; With its compact design, it reduces the space available for the passenger compartment.zamIt takes it to the next level. Although it offers higher performance, it uses a volume comparable to the previous generation electric axle AxTrax AVE. New axle, same zamIt is now fully compatible with ZF's air suspension and braking systems. In terms of software, AxTrax 2 LF also benefits from ZF's extensive experience in developing cutting-edge features such as axle condition monitoring and cybersecurity. Series production of the AxTrax 2 LF is planned to start in 2025.

Security solutions:

  • ZF's Collision Mitigation System (CMS) for city buses, an intelligent braking system that can detect vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians on the vehicle's route, will also be exhibited. The innovative CMS system automatically stops the bus in case of emergency braking, while zamIt also monitors passengers standing in the vehicle at the same time.
  • ZF's OnHand electro-pneumatic handbrake will also be featured at the fair. The smart parking brake not only improves vehicle safety and driver comfort, but also serves as a building block technology for autonomous driving.

Connection solutions with SCALAR and Bus Connect

  • ZF's fleet management platform SCALAR enables public transport managers to optimize road transport planning, dispatch and other processes. The advanced system provides public transport operators with real zamIt helps take the service to the highest level by providing real-time and artificial intelligence-based automatic decision-making service.
  • SCALAR EVO Flow allows fleet operators to use high-value vehicle and driver data by compatibility with various vehicle units such as tachographs, CAN bus or existing sensors.
  • ZF visitors at Busworld will also be able to experience the digital fleet management solution Bus Connect live. ZF Bus Connect helps fleet operators increase safety, optimize maintenance and improve bus fleet operations based on valuable data analysis, while saving costs.

ZF press conference will be held at Busworld Turkey on 29 May at 15:50 at the ZF stand (Hall 1, stand D02).

  • ZF EMEA Bus Sales Vice President Frank Burkhart will present the current state of the technologies at 15:50.
