The automotive industry achieved record growth in the first 2023 months of 8
According to data announced by the Automotive Industry Association (OSD), automotive production and exports reached record levels in the first 2023 months of 8.
Production increased by 13 percent
Compared to the same period last year, total production increased by 13 percent and reached 943 thousand 609 units. Automobile production, which increased by 8 percent compared to the first 21 months of last year, reached 599 thousand 915 units.
With tractor production, total production increased to 981 thousand 897 units. In the commercial vehicle group, production increased by 8 percent in the first 2 months of the year, and in the heavy commercial vehicle group by 27 percent, while the light commercial vehicle group remained parallel to the previous year.
Exports increased by 17 percent
In the first eight months of the year, automotive exports increased by 11 percent on unit basis compared to the same period of the previous year, and amounted to 656 thousand 750 units. In this period, automobile exports increased by 26 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 8 percent. Tractor exports increased by 2022 percent compared to the same period in 13, reaching 13 thousand 88 units.
Growth of 788 thousand units in the market
In the first eight months of 2023, the total market increased by 63 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 788 thousand 197 units. During this period, the automobile market also increased by 64 percent and reached 582 thousand 419 units. Looking at the commercial vehicle market, in the first eight months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, the total commercial vehicle market grew by 60 percent, the heavy commercial vehicle market by 32 percent, and the light commercial vehicle market by 66 percent.
Domestic vehicle share 31 percent
In the January-August period of 2023, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 31 percent, and the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 50 percent, compared to the same period last year.
