Volkswagen, ID. Introduced the GTI Concept: GTI carries its history into the electric future

Volkswagen ID, the electric version of the iconic GTI. It introduced the GTI Concept at the IAA Mobility 2023 event. This concept was designed to move the GTI history from the 48-year gasoline era to the electric future.

ID. Images of the GTI Concept, previously unveiled VW ID. It shows that it has a design reminiscent of the 2all Concept. The designers had the GTI in mind when designing this concept, and as a result, you can find almost the same GTI features here, but decorated with black and red details.

There are sportier bumpers at the front and rear, and the concept model rides on Mk1 GTI-inspired wheels. The taillights are darker and a spoiler combines with black details around the window. The grille is finished in black with red details and of course you can find the GTI logo everywhere.

At the moment, we don't have much information about the engine under this ambitious red hatchback. But VW says it uses a single-engine high-performance powertrain that includes an electronic differential lock for the front wheels. It also offers a host of customizations via the GTI Experience Control, from suspension settings to steering response, volume, and even the ability to create simulated shift points to mimic the past eras of GTIs.

Following the traces of the past, interior design continues in the same line. In addition to the iconic checkered seats, there is a dual-screen digital interior. This system includes multiple settings reminiscent of classic instrument displays. For example, when you intend to cruise around in a Mk2 GTI, you can set it up this way. If you find yourself at a famous track like, say, the Nürburgring, an augmented reality head-up display projects a layout of the track onto the lower corner of the spoiler.

What is your concept? zamThere is no word yet on when it will come true. But enthusiasts and enthusiasts can enjoy the future at the IAA Mobility 5 event, where it will be showcased from September 2023.
