Volkswagen to introduce the next generation Passat

Volkswagen announced the introduction date of the new generation Passat as August 31. The model expected in the D segment comes with big changes.

VW prefers to focus on the station wagon model by shelving the sedan model. In addition, the new Passat will no longer be produced in Germany, production is moving to Bratislava, Slovakia.

The new Passat carries strong hints of the ID design and gives the impression of an ID.7 with internal combustion engines. The fully electric version was also recently spotted with a completely uncamouflaged station wagon body.

The Passat's interior is completely revamped, removing most of the traditional buttons. As one of VW's latest models, the Passat will feature key control elements via slide controls beneath the touchscreen. A 12.9-inch screen will be offered as standard, with a 15-inch screen available on higher-end models. A 10.25-inch digital driver display and a new head-up display will also be available.

The new Passat will be larger than the previous version and will be designed to offer more legroom and a larger trunk space. Under the hood, there will be mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines, as well as plug-in hybrid power units that offer DC charging support and an electric range of 120 km.
