Lamborghini chief designer explains how Landazor came to be

Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini is preparing to step into the electric vehicle market. The company will launch the rechargeable hybrid Revuelto in late 2023, and the Huracan successor and the Urus SUV will each come in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.

However, we will have to wait until 2028 for Lamborghini's first fully electric car. Unveiled at Monterey Car Week last month, the Lanzador concept offers the first glimpse of what this electric car might look like.

The four-seat Lanzador offers a mix between a supercar and a traditional grand tourer. It represents a style that Lamborghini has not produced before. Head of Design Mitja Borkert explains that they set out with this goal of difference and innovation.

Borkert states that they tried different designs and body styles, but none of them were convincing. Eventually, he says, they came up with the idea to increase the height of the car while retaining Lamborghini's characteristic supercar silhouette, so they can better hide the battery pack. This approach enables a slim, elegant and clean upper body design.

While Lanzador's design offers a contemporary and stylish look, details inspired by Lamborghini's supercars draw attention in the interior.

Lamborghini's electric future looks quite exciting. The company reveals its determination to produce supercars in electric vehicles.
