Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, achieved great success by exceeding 2023 million vehicle sales worldwide in August 1. However, it is still not clear with which model this important milestone was achieved. Genesis did not choose to celebrate or announce this particular achievement through any particular means.
However, according to the information we have, this success occurred in August. In a statement made by Genesis, it was confirmed that the company has sold a total of 1.008.804 vehicles worldwide since its founding. The majority of these sales were made to the South Korean market, with a total of 690.177 vehicles. The remaining 318.627 vehicles were sold to other markets, and the country with the highest sales was the United States with more than 225.000 vehicles.
Remarkably, Genesis' best-selling model so far has been the G80 sedan, not an SUV. The luxury brand started with the G90 sedan in South Korea and launched the G2016 in 80. The G70 sedan arrived a little later, and until this model, Genesis' model range was limited to these three vehicles. However, it entered the SUV segment with an SUV model called GV2020 in 80 and GV70 later that year. Finally, it expanded its SUV family with the fully electric GV60 model.
Genesis sales have increased significantly as new models have been introduced in the last three years. While it took more than five years for the company to sell its first half-million vehicles, the next 500.000 sales occurred in just two years. Genesis aims to grow further in the luxury car market and increase its global competitiveness.
