Hyundai and Genesis Models Are at the Top as a Result of IIHS's Safety Tests

Rating by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

The American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) subjected a total of 16 new vehicles from Hyundai Motor Group to comprehensive crash tests. Hyundai and Genesis models, which won the world-famous IIHS 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) and TOP SAFETY PICK PLUS awards, stood out much more than their competitors in the evaluation and attracted attention.

These tests are a reflection of the group's investments in safety equipment and technology, and the extraordinary performance of its vehicles is evidence of its unwavering focus on safety. This success also demonstrates the group's determination to become a security leader. Hyundai Smart safety equipment, which aims to protect passengers and pedestrians inside the vehicle at the highest level, reached maximum levels, especially in frontal and side crash tests.

High-end Hyundai models like TSP Plus, KONA, IONIQ 6, Genesis G80, GV80 and GV60. Among the TSP winners, which is a lower tier, there are popular models such as ELANTRA, IONIQ 5 and TUCSON.

To qualify for IIHS TSP, vehicles must score well on front and side tests. TSP Plus, the institute's highest rating, requires a vehicle to score well in all tests and be acceptable in the updated center front crash test. Both TSP/TSP+ awards must receive a good rating in pedestrian crash tests. Same zamIt is now a must to offer acceptable or well-rated headlights as standard on all equipment levels.

The IIHS has raised the bar for the 2024 TSP/TSP+ awards, setting criteria for automakers to increase protection for backseat passengers and improve pedestrian collision avoidance systems. The changes made to the vehicles to win these challenging awards provide the highest level of protection for all passengers and pedestrians inside the vehicle.
