Williams finished sixth at Monza
In qualifying for Formula 1's Italian Grand Prix, Williams had his best performance since the start of the season as Alex Albon took sixth place.
Albon made his top 1 debut in Q15 and continued to progress in Q2, making it into Q3. In the last section, he made a good lap and achieved the sixth place.
“I think we did a good job,” Albon said after qualifying. said.
“I think we came here hoping to get into Q3, so sixth place is great.”
“I think fast cars are ahead of us in terms of race pace, I don't race with them. But maybe we can do something against Astons and McLarens. So yes, I am quite happy.”
Still, Albon points out that their performance at Monza doesn't mean the team has made a big breakthrough.
"It's still hard to say we've made a big step forward because this track would have been a good fit for us," said the Williams driver. said.
“I'm actually quite surprised that AlphaTauri is so competitive. We need to use these races to try to close the gap in the Constructors' Championship. Because to be realistic, we're only going to be competitive here and in Vegas. So we have to keep moving forward and try to get those points.”
When asked about Ferrari's Carlos Sainz's pole position, Albon praised the Spanish driver's form:
