Pirro on top on first day of training at Misano

Ducati's test rider Michele Pirro became the fastest on the first day of MotoGP tests in Misano with a time of 1:31.909.

Behind Pirro, Luca Marini, brother of Valentino Rossi, who is confirmed to remain in VR2024 in 46, was second and Pramac driver Jorge Martin was third.

Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia avoided a serious injury in his accident at the Catalan GP last weekend. Bagnaia looked tired in his first practice and finished the session in 20th place.

Fabio Di Giannantonio took the lead in the opening laps with a time of 1:35.889 on his Gresini Ducati, but Martin and Pirro later replaced him.

Pirro is the first under 1:34.507 with 1:35 zamMarco Bezzecchi, who was injured in the Turn 1 accident in Barcelona last weekend, became the fastest with 1:33.987.

Then, Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, who completed Aprilia's 1-2 last Sunday, took the top spot.

While Pedrosa was testing the carbon fiber chassis on behalf of KTM, he became the fastest person, leaving Pirro and Martin behind.

Marini broke through late in the session and finished second ahead of Martin.

Bezzecchi finished fourth ahead of Fernandez in the closing stages.

Pedrosa finished sixth ahead of Vinales, while Zarco, Aleix Espargaro and Alex Marquez completed the top 10.

Franco Morbidelli finished 12th, while Fabio Quartararo finished 15th.

Marc Marquez finished the session in 21st place for Honda, while rumors about his future in the team continue.

Augusto Fernandez suffered his only crash of the session when he skidded at Turn 14 early in the session.
