Jonathan Rea transfers to Yamaha

Legendary driver of the World Superbike Championship, Jonathan Rea, has signed with Yamaha for the 2024 season. After competing at Kawasaki for nine seasons, Rea took the vacant seat after Toprak Razgatlıoğlu transferred to BMW.

Competing with Kawasaki since the 2015 season, Rea won the championship six times in a row starting from that season until the 2020 season. Rea's reign, which had 119 victories in this process, was ended by our representative Toprak Razgatlıoğlu in the 2021 season.

Rea, who has been away from the championship fight for the last two seasons, had a contract that normally covers the 2024 season. However, after Toprak left and Kawasaki agreed to terminate the contract, Rea agreed with Yamaha.

Rea was convinced Yamaha would give him a competitive bike. Thus, Rea, who is certain to race for Yamaha from next season, will be teammates with one of the promising names Andrea Locatelli.

Rea's transfer made a big splash at the World Superbike Championship. Rea is thought to be able to win championships again with Yamaha.
