Aston Martin plans to take part in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA, one of the most prestigious events of world sports car racing, starting from the 2025 season. Behind this move lies the company's desire to return to racing with its legendary hypercar Valkyrie.

Reborn Valkyrie LMH

The Valkyrie LMH program was launched with the aim of strengthening Aston Martin's presence in IMSA and WEC and increasing its competitiveness in these arenas. This program is being implemented as a result of the collaboration between Aston Martin and the US-based Heart of Racing team. Among the supporters of the project is Gabe Newell, one of the important names in the world of computer games.

Announced in 2021, the project is progressing rapidly and could be seen on the track in the near future. Although it is not a completed deal yet, the project is expected to become official soon.

Aston Martin's Growth Ambition

Aston Martin has held discussions with suppliers about this potential program and has appointed some of its experienced employees to manage the programme. Especially experienced names such as Adam Carter are doing their best to revive the Valkyrie LMH program.

Aston Martin officials stated that the growth of the hypercar class encouraged the company and that last year's Le Mans 24 Hours race showed how exciting this class is. Therefore, the company plans to continue its interest in motorsport.

Heart of Racing team boss Ian James says his ambitions to advance to the top tier of international sports car racing are in no way zamHe said they did not hide it. However, at this stage, no final decision has been taken yet.

Features of Valkyrie

Valkyrie continues to be developed without major changes from its original concept. The power of the vehicle will be provided by a 6.5-liter normal aspiration V12 engine developed in cooperation with Cosworth. A particularly striking feature is that it does not have a rear axle hybrid system.

Aston Martin also aims to sell customer vehicles with this project. However, pressure on the cost of the program had increased, especially due to the inclusion of LMP2-based LMDh cars in the WEC's Hypercar division.
