Aston Martin very happy with Alonso

Fernando Alonso made the bold decision to move to Aston Martin after two seasons of Alpine adventures. This seems like the best decision of Alonso's career so far.

Switching to the most competitive concept in the middle of last year, Aston Martin has become more and more competitive. Thanks to this, the team started the 2023 season with the second best car.

Alonso uses the vehicle's potential to its fullest. He won six podiums in the first eight races, missed pole position at the last second in Monaco, and made four first dash starts.

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack, who said that the Spanish driver fit in very well with the team, shows the transparency of both sides as the key to this relationship.

Asked if Alonso is a difficult name to manage, Krack told Autosport:

"I don't think we should manage each other because he's a member of the team like all of us."

"Obviously, he's the name with the highest profile, so you listen to what he does and care about what he says."

“But he knows we want to do this together, and if we don't achieve the goals we set or what he expects from us, we'll be honest about it.”

“I think the key for us at this stage is to have as open and transparent a relationship as possible. So far everything is going well.”

“More importantly, Fernando knows the car's weaknesses, so we review the issues together. He knows what to expect from him and we make decisions together.”

“If you have such an experienced, intelligent, and ambitious person, you need to involve him, because if you do, you will only profit.”

"We don't just see Fernando as a driver, we try to capitalize on his experience and positivity."

“I think that has helped us a lot.”

Alonso's performance at Aston Martin has strengthened his relationship with the team since the start of the 2022 season. Both sides are happy with each other and this satisfaction shows itself on the track as well.
