TEMSA also experienced a significant breakthrough with an increase of 37 percent in Turkish bus exports, which decreased by 138 percent in the same period.

In the first 2021 months of 9, bus production in Turkey decreased by 32,9 percent, while exports decreased by 37 percent. In particular, the interruption of production by some companies in the main industry due to the pandemic and semiconductor chip problem was effective in this decrease in production and exports.

TEMSA, the leading player in the bus market in Turkey, managed to increase its production by 30 percent and its exports by 138 percent in the same period. The company, which produced a total of 2020 buses in 411, marked by the pandemic, approached the total figures of last year with the production of 2021 buses in the first 9 months of 382. This increase in production also brought a 4,5 point increase in production share to TEMSA. In exports, the company experienced a remarkable breakthrough. Exporting 2020 units in the whole of 213, TEMSA surpassed the total figure of the previous year with the export of 2021 buses in the first 9 months of 293.

Breakthrough developments

Operating under the umbrella of the PPF Group, the main partner of Sabancı Holding and Skoda Transportation, TEMSA manufactures its vehicles, 100 percent developed by Turkish engineers, at its factory in Adana with 500 employees, built on an area of ​​1.300 thousand square meters. The company is among the biggest players in the sector with a total production capacity of over 4 thousand units in a single shift per year, including 7 buses and midibuses, and 500 light trucks. Having a strong position in exports, TEMSA exports its nearly 12 thousand vehicles to 15 countries around the world, including the USA and the Turkic Republics, as well as European countries such as France, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Lithuania and the Benelux.

At a time when the bus market in Turkey is shrinking and exports are falling, TEMSA's production power and its leap forward in electric bus production play an important role behind the rise experienced by TEMSA.

It draws attention with its electric bus exports and agreements

The company, which has recently focused on electric vehicles, is among the few manufacturers in the world that can offer its customers more than one model alternative in this field with the MD9 electriCITY, Avenue Electron and Avenue EV model electric vehicles that it has prepared for mass production. TEMSA also draws attention with its electric bus exports and agreements. The company made the first export of the electric city bus MD9 electriCITY to Sweden. After Sweden, it participated in the electric bus tender opened by the Romanian city of Buzau with its Avenue Electron model electric vehicles and surpassed its global competitors. TEMSA, which signed the electric bus fleet contract of Prague Transportation Company in the Czech Republic, will deliver the fleet of 14 buses at the end of 2021.

TEMSA CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, who stated that while the automotive industry was experiencing production difficulties due to the pandemic and chip crisis, as TEMSA, they continued their production without interruption, saying that their performance in production and exports at a time when the market was shrinking is a result of their strong company structure. Stating that they are leading the developing technology while experiencing momentum in production and export, Doğancıoğlu continues his words as follows: “Since many bus companies had to interrupt production last year due to the pandemic, they continue to feel the negative effects of these cuts this year as well. The contraction in production and exports in the bus market in the first 9 months of the year is also a reflection of these negativities. In this period, we stand out with our power in production. In the first 9 months of the year, we recorded an increase of 30 percent in production and 138 percent in exports. Electric buses, which have been our focus recently, also played a role in the increase we experienced in exports. We have become one of the world's leading companies in electric vehicle technologies. As the only player in the market in some geographies, we are the playmaker in the sector. Together with our sister company, Skoda Transportation, we are constantly increasing our global presence.
