Buddh Circuit: A Historical and Challenging Racing Venue

The moment that the MotoGP world has been eagerly waiting for has arrived. MotoGP riders, designed by Hermann Tilke and zamThey are preparing to race for the first time at the Buddh Circuit, which instantly hosted Formula 1. The Buddh Circuit is famous for its technical difficulties and variety of corners and presents a great challenge to the drivers.

Effect of Temperature and Conditions

The two long practice sessions on Friday provided an important opportunity for the drivers to get to know the track. However, due to the intense heat in New Delhi, it was not easy to focus on long drives. Drivers find that the conditions they experience at some Asian circuits such as Malaysia and Thailand are even more challenging at the Buddh Circuit.

Championship leaders such as Francesco Bagnaia emphasized how challenging it was to race in the heat. “On the back straight you feel like you're on fire, you start to feel your throat burning, your legs burning,” Bagnaia said. He expressed his feelings as follows.

Drivers' Concerns and Decision

After the second practice, the drivers expressed their concerns to the race commissioners, thinking that the conditions were unsafe. Given the seriousness of these concerns, the decision was made on security grounds.

As a result, it was decided to shorten both the sprint race and the main race. The sprint race will be held over 12 laps instead of 11 laps, while the main race will be held over 24 laps instead of 21 laps.

The Role of Weather Conditions

Even though the summer season is over in northern India, the temperature is still expected to be quite high at the start of the race. The track is also forecast to have humidity levels as high as 92% on Saturday. This will increase the temperature and provide an even more challenging racing experience for the drivers.
