The "Health Promoting Parks" studies within the scope of the "Living Parks" Project, which was pioneered by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer to integrate the people of Izmir with green areas in a healthy way, continues to grow.

Established for the first time in Turkey during the term of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, Living Parks, which are carried out in cooperation with the Department of Health Affairs and the Department of Parks and Gardens and integrate the public with nature, increase the satisfaction of citizens. In addition, a different service is offered to citizens with the "Health Promoting Parks" project brought to the city by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Within the framework of the project that aims to develop health awareness and acquire a healthy lifestyle for the citizens in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Parks and Gardens Department and the Department of Health Affairs, the experts of the municipality won the Healthy Cities Best Practice Competition 2023- City Planning Category First Prize, this time within the scope of the Cittaslow Metropol Calm Neighborhood Program. The recipient of the award met with the residents of the neighborhood at Martyr Adem Aydoğan Park in Demirköprü District. Village-Koop Izmir Union President Neptün Soyer also attended the program.

He explained the formula for non-toxic tables
Experts from Izmir Metropolitan Municipality gave free training on topics such as nutrition, first aid, physical activity, accidents and prevention methods, and psychosocial health. Speaking in the program, Neptün Soyer talked about their work on the production of healthy foods in Izmir. Soyer said that agricultural development cooperatives provide training to producers in the villages of Izmir on how to produce healthy food. Explaining the formula of non-toxic tables, Neptün Soyer said, “We also explain the importance of healthy food to the producers. We want to establish correct and healthy communication between the producer and the consumer. We said 'We are coming as a cooperative' in our villages with non-governmental organizations such as Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Chamber of Veterinarians, Izmir Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, Chamber of Food Engineers. As a union, we are trying to travel from village to village and explain this. It is very meaningful that this has come together with the city. It is very important for Izmir to set an example for other provinces. It has villages and townspeople. "It is very important," he said.

“We continue our work together with our people”
Banu Erdal, Community Health and Education Branch Manager of the Department of Health Affairs, said: "As the Department of Health Affairs and the Department of Parks and Gardens, we decided to launch a project called 'Health Promoting Parks' in our living parks and all parks of Izmir about 3 months ago. We came together with our fellow citizens, considering the importance our President Tunç Soyer attaches to health and the impact of parks on health. Here, we continue to work together with our people under many educational headings such as physical activity, general health, healthy nutrition, home accidents and prevention methods, accidents in parks and children's prevention methods, and first aid. We are now on our fifth park. And it will continue to increase. We do not leave that park after providing training. "Our teams continue to work there every week," he said.

“There need to be places that live up to their name, including culture and art.”
Banu Erdal said, “We live in a big city. Green areas and parks are very important for people's health and comfort. As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we attach great importance to this. The Living Parks Project is the biggest aim of this. In fact, parks are not just places where you go and sit, where children play and where you do physical activity with sports equipment. They need to be places that live up to their name, including culture, art and education. There should be places where the society can do all kinds of activities they want very comfortably. "That was the goal," he said.

“There are citizens who can and cannot access this education.”
Volkan Barbaros, Planning Project Branch Manager of the Department of Parks and Gardens, said, “The main responsibility of the Department of Parks and Gardens is to produce new parks in Izmir and to maintain existing parks for the use of citizens. This is a newly designed park. Cittaslow park. Different units of the municipality also accompanied the design of this park. In fact, one of the main purposes of these parks is to host similar events. In this event, we are trying to choose more parks, especially in the suburbs. Because there are citizens who can and cannot access this education. It is used completely free of charge. It is the same in this world. Our purpose in this project is hosting. Basically, in our habits, it functions like a child's game or taking a walk. But it's the same zamCurrently parks are an educational area. The Living Parks Project is also trying to do this somewhere. "This is like one of its legs," he said.
