Konya Metropolitan Municipality hosts national athletes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Greece, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Uzbekistan and various provinces of Turkey at the "Mevlana International Judo Training Camp". The camp, in which approximately 350 athletes participated, will end on January 3.


"Mevlana International Judo Training Camp", hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, brings together national athletes from 10 different countries of the world in Konya.

Turkish Judo Federation President Sezer Huysuz, who attended the camp held at Konya Sports and Congress Center, said that many valuable national and international organizations were held in Konya.

Huysuz stated that approximately 350 athletes participated in the camp and that it was a nice working environment, and said, “The impact of the development in our country's infrastructure on the international community is also visible here. Our Konya has provided great services to Turkish judo and brought great athletes. Our daughter, national athlete Sinem Oruç, who won the gold medal at the Cadets European Judo Championship held in Portugal, is the athlete of Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor Club and this province. Participants from other countries will camp together for 5 days at Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mevlana International Judo Training Camp. This will make a great contribution to both Turkish judo and European countries. In this context, I would like to thank our coaches, administrators, administrators and Konya Metropolitan Municipality who contributed to this event. Because it is truly a very good organization for our country,” he said.

Emphasizing that Konya Metropolitan Municipality is interested in the organization down to the smallest detail, Huysuz said:

Our Konya Metropolitan Municipality has really paved the way for us both in terms of the athletes it trains from the infrastructure, in terms of facilities and other issues. We also support him as a federation. Konya Metropolitan Municipality has already trained beautiful athletes for Turkish sports. He achieved this not only in judo, but also in taekwondo, wrestling and other branches. It also makes really big investments in sports. In return, I think we do good things for each other. "This atmosphere you see is the effort of our Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, managers, coaches, provincial representatives and this province."

ATHLETES BOTH SOCIALIZE AND TRAIN

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Judo coach Şeyda Aydoğan stated that the camp went very efficiently and smoothly and said, “We are holding this camp for the preparations for the upcoming Cadet Turkey Championship, Youth Turkey Championship and subsequently the European and World Champions, where our athletes participating in the National Team will compete. All our athletes at the National Team level from our 15 cities are here, we invited them too. All of our athletes who competed on behalf of the Turkish National Team and the National Team in Konya are here. We think it will be a nice co-working camp. "It is a good camp to both socialize with our athlete brothers from different countries and learn their training routine," he said.

“MY DREAM IS TO GET AN OLYMPIC MEDAL”

Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor Club athlete Sinem Oruç stated that she has been doing judo for 9 years and said, “I have European and World championships. I came second at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). My dream is to get an Olympic medal. We are working with all our strength, both as a team and individually, for the 2028 Olympics. We would like to thank both our Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and the president of our club for giving us these opportunities for their support. "It's a good camp, I hope it continues like this," he said.

National athletes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Greece, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Uzbekistan and various provinces of Turkey stated that they liked the camp organization very much and thanked everyone who contributed.

The camp, which started with the participation of approximately 350 athletes, will end on January 3.
