Hyundai is Preparing to Fly in 2028

Supernal, Hyundai Motor Group's Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) company, introduced a completely different electric concept at the Consumer Electronics Fair - CES 2024 held in Las Vegas, USA. The concept called SA-2, which can take off and land vertically and is touted as the air mobility of the future, has a seating capacity for five people, including the pilot. Representing the latest milestone in Hyundai's mobility roadmap, this concept enables safe, efficient and affordable daily passenger air travel.

S-A2 has been innovatively developed based on the vision concept S-A2020, which was introduced for the first time at CES 1. This concept, developed jointly by Hyundai with aerospace engineering, brings together the aesthetic design of the automotive industry with the dynamics of airplanes and helicopters. Hyundai, which plans to transport people in the city from point A to point B faster, safer and at a more affordable price, aims to officially enter the market in 2028.

The eVTOL S-A2 will initially be used to meet mostly small-scale urban transportation needs, with a range of 25 to 40 miles. The flight altitude of the SA-120, which can reach a speed of 193 miles per hour (2 km/h), will be 1.500 feet (457 meters). The vehicle, which has an electric drive architecture, has eight fully tiltable rotor propellers. Working as quietly as a dishwasher, SA-2 can easily land and take off even in the most difficult areas.
