Rimac Nevera broke the electric vehicle lap record at the Nürburgring. The Croatia-based automaker announced that the electric hypercar has set a new lap record on the legendary track. Nevera beat the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack by lapsing the Nürburgring with an impressive time of 7 minutes 5.298 seconds.
In the shorter course, 20.6 kilometers in configuration, Nevera achieved a time of 7 minutes 0.928 seconds. Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrić completed the record-breaking lap using Michelin Cup2R tyres. Independent timing data, TÜV SÜD and on-board telemetry confirmed the time stated by Rimac.
Tesla Model S plaid The Track Pack set the record for 7 minutes 25.231 seconds, beating the previous record holder Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Nevera's duration is about 20 seconds faster than Tesla's.
It is clear that breaking this record is not an easy task. “We experienced difficult weather conditions during our training sessions this week and chose one of the hottest days of the summer to set the lap time,” Kodrić said.
Rimac Nevera has four electric motors producing 1914 horsepower and 2360 Nm of torque. The vehicle can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 2,5 seconds and its maximum speed is 412 km / h. Nevera costs around $2 million.
Rimac Nevera's record at the Nürburgring shows how much electric vehicles have developed. Nevera proved that electric vehicles can be as fast and agile as sports cars.
