Ferrari's Charles Leclerc said it was unlikely that the team could score better than third place at the moment.

Ferrari managed to take pole for the race in Belgium, but was behind Red Bull on Sunday in pace. Charles Leclerc, after finishing in third place, said that they could not achieve more with the current pace.

Leclerc of Monaco said:

  • "Unfortunately, third place is the best possible result for us at this point in the season."
  • "Yes, we each hope to win, but we have to admit that both Red Bull cars are much faster."
  • “Our strategy was good, the tires worked very well. We tried to react to Lewis' moves, to keep him behind. Red Bull also tried to react to us.”

How much due to fuel economy zamWhen asked if he lost a moment, Leclerc replied:

  • “Not much. At one point I saw that I was getting the same times as Perez and I thought I could catch him, but then I realized he was also saving fuel.”

Leclerc commented on the first half of the season as follows:

  • “It didn't go very well.”
  • “Before the first race, the goal was to go one step further compared to last year and win the world championship. "After the first half of the season, we have to admit that we are a long way from that."
  • “In any case, it's good that we finished the first episode of the season on a positive note. We will now use the summer break to try to analyze these last two races and get the best results from all races in the second half of the season.”

Leclerc talked about whether the tire wear problem at the beginning of the season has disappeared:

  • "I think it's too early to tell, but we're already controlling the tires much better."

Leclerc's statements show that Ferrari will struggle for more success in the second half of the season. The team will use the summer break to improve the performance of the new car and refine its racing strategy.
