550 million dollar emission penalty from the EU to automobile manufacturers

The European Council is introducing tough emissions rules to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent over the next decade.

In the calendar in question; There are different purposes for time periods such as 2020-2024, 2025-2029, 2029-2034.

Producers will face penalties if they do not comply with these purposes. For this reason, the EU cut a total of 2020 million dollars to some car manufacturers who did not comply with emission rules between 2024 and 550.

Volkswagen, which missed its 2020 target by 0,75g/km, will pay $106 million of this penalty.

Jaguar Land Rover was fined 3-35 million dollars due to the 43,5g/km value.

Among those penalized are major brands such as Suzuki, Subaru, Bentley, Lamborghini and McLaren.

The EU, which will reduce its emission targets by 25 percent next year, will achieve this target of 2030 g/km in the 2034-49,5 period.

It is aimed to sell all zero-emission vehicles in Europe by 2035. Huge fines are expected to be imposed again on brands that do not comply with the rules by that date.
