Fiat's South America-Special Model Titano Unveiled

Fiat officially introduced its new model Titano, developed for the South American market. Titano is a pick-up model named after the giants in Greek mythology. The Titano was designed to compete with rivals like the Ford Ranger. The basis of the model is Peugeot's Landtrek model. But the Landtrek also has an interesting origin.

Titano's China Connection

The Landtrek, on which the Titano is based, is actually a Chinese vehicle. The version of the Changan Kaicene F70 model, produced in partnership with Landtrek, Changan Automobile and PSA, bearing the Peugeot logo. Kaicene F70 has been sold in different regions with different logos since 2019. This shows that Titano is actually a Chinese vehicle.

Titano's Engine Options

Titano is currently on sale in Algeria. The model comes with a 1.9 liter diesel engine. This engine produces 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. In South America, the model is expected to come with a 2.2-liter diesel engine.

Titano's Cabin Options

Titano is sold with two different cabin options in Algeria. These are 4×2 Single Cab and 4×4 Double Cab. Single Cab is a version with a single row of seats and a longer body volume. Double Cab is a version with two rows of seats and a shorter body volume. In South America, the model will be sold only in the Double Cab version.

Price and Market of Titano

Titano's price has not been announced yet. However, the model is expected to be an affordable option in the South American market. Titano will compete with rivals such as Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Chevrolet S10, Volkswagen Amarok in this market. Titano is not planned to be sold to different regions.
