“We will provide support to 1.2 million earthquake victims with the winter aid program”

General Leader of the winter aid program in the earthquake zone, Prof. Dr. Stating that it was initiated with Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, Turkish Red Crescent Disaster Management and Climate Change General Manager İbrahim Özer stated that the aid mobilization was carried out according to the planned schedule. General Manager Özer said, “As part of our recovery efforts in the earthquake zone, we continue to provide livelihood assistance, food, clothing, water sanitation and shelter supplies. We started our aid program to address the winter needs of our earthquake victims before the seasonal conditions we live in get worse. Red Crescent workers and our volunteers, who were also earthquake victims, are going to villages and container cities to meet the needs of our earthquake victims, as they have from the very beginning. Red Crescent workers deliver winter clothes, food, hygiene, heaters, blankets and insulation materials to earthquake victims wherever they go. In addition, our Turkish Red Crescent Social Service Centers are working to provide solutions to the needs of our earthquake victims for both social empowerment, psychosocial support and training activities in our 6 provinces, which are the most affected: Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Malatya and Osmaniye. We are establishing 100th Anniversary Turkish Red Crescent Libraries, which we put into service in the earthquake zone and aim to increase their number with the support of our donors. These libraries create a special space for our children to study. We will provide support to 1.2 million earthquake victims with the winter aid program. "Our social empowerment program, the first phase of which has been completed with our tradesman support project, which enabled the reopening of 607 shops, continues with the farmer support project." said.

Within the scope of its aid efforts since the beginning of the earthquake, the Red Crescent has supported more than 2.6 million disaster victims with aid exceeding 3.2 billion TL.
