Hyundai's H-SOS System: Technology that Automatically Notifies You of Your Need for Help

Hyundai is preparing to take a new step in security. The South Korean brand plans to implement a project that won the bronze award at the 2023 Ideas Festival. This project is a system called H-SOS. This system will detect extraordinary situations inside and outside the vehicle and notify the relevant units.

H-SOS is part of Hyundai's smart car vision. This system will work with microphones and cameras placed inside the vehicle. Microphones will constantly listen to sounds inside the vehicle. Cameras will record images around the vehicle.

H-SOS will detect situations that require a call for help by analyzing audio and video. For example, if it hears sounds such as shouting, arguing, gunshots inside the vehicle, or detects images such as theft, accident, or fire outside the vehicle, it will take immediate action.

H-SOS will draw attention in these situations by using the vehicle's horn and lights. Same zamIt will instantly activate the emergency button in the vehicle. When this button is pressed, H-SOS will transmit the recorded audio and video data to security units and nearby vehicles. Thus, assistance can be provided more quickly and effectively.

H-SOS Received an Award at Hyundai's Innovation Festival

H-SOS is a project that won the bronze award at the Idea Festival organized by Hyundai every year. This festival offers a platform for Hyundai employees to showcase their creative ideas. H-SOS was selected among more than 500 projects at the festival.

H-SOS will have Hyundai's IoT infrastructure. In this way, vehicles will be able to connect to the internet and benefit from cloud-based services. While developing this technology, Hyundai will also attach importance to users' data privacy. H-SOS will only share data in emergencies and obtain users' consent.

H-SOS is a system that reflects Hyundai's vision on safety. With this system, Hyundai aims to offer vehicle owners a safer and more comfortable driving experience. H-SOS is expected to appear in Hyundai models in 2024.
