Electric and compact version of the G-Class comes from Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz boss Ola Kallenius confirmed at the Munich Motor Show that a smaller version of the G-Class is in development.

The small G-Class looks set to be an all-wheel drive crossover that will rise on the MMA modular platform designed for entry-level electric cars. It will be called the g-Class (g-Class) instead of the G-Class to reflect its smaller size.

Judging by the clue image released by the company, Mercedes-Benz designers plan to present the compact G-Class with the same angular design as the standard SUV and with a trunk-mounted spare wheel. The vehicle will come equipped with dual electric motors and an all-wheel drive system.

Mercedes didn't share many details, but the vehicle is not expected to launch before 2025. In terms of size, it is unlikely to be as small as the Suzuki Jimny, perhaps closer to the Jeep Wrangler. It is not yet known whether the small G-Class will be two-door or four-door.
