Mercedes faced difficulties at the start of the championship, but managed to find good consistency with the W14 after the updates in Barcelona. Zaman zamMercedes, which seems to be the fastest team under certain conditions at the moment, has difficulties in dealing with Red Bull, especially in terms of race pace.
While Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is aware of the steps they need to take, he now believes they have found the right direction. He also underlines that they mostly focus on 2024.
Wolff said: “We have already determined our route for 2024. We're still working on a number of new updates for W14, but it's the best way to prepare for next year. zamWe know that the moment has come. There is a lot we can improve on our current vehicle without the need for new parts. We'll see how much we can improve the performance of the car as we continue to gather useful information next year. The more we learn right now, the better prepared we will be for the 2024 season and beyond.”

While it's clear that Mercedes is lagging behind in the title race, the team feels it's headed in the right direction. Focusing on 2024, Mercedes hopes to develop a car that can compete for the championship next year.
