MotoGP racers dissatisfied with new tire pressure rules

Starting this weekend, MotoGP will launch its new Tire Pressure Management System, which measures tire pressure. The minimum tire pressure for racers and teams is 1.9 bar (27.6 psi) at the front and 1.7 bar (24.7 psi) at the rear for at least half of a race distance. The purpose of this system is to prevent teams from opting for undesirable pressure levels and to remove safety concerns.

However, some people think that the system may cause security problems. Constant blistering of the front tires, in particular, can lead to loss of grip and an increased risk of falling.

Aleix Espargaro said on Thursday that the new rule could make races more boring. He stated that with the new system, they are expected to see motorcycles that are less than a second apart.

Espargaro also stated that although he was faster than Brad Binder in Assen, he could not get close to Binder and the tire pressure was constantly increasing. He stressed that this could affect the races and that the racers may have to drive at a safe distance.

As a result, although the new Tire Pressure Management System has caused some controversy, its purpose is to improve safety and standardize choices regarding tire pressure. However, opinions on the effect of the system on races and the aspects that need to be developed may differ.
