Honda slowly gets better with aero updates

Honda has been trying to catch up with European manufacturers with aero updates for the last two races. First trialled in Britain by LCR rider Takaaki Nakagami, the updates are also rolling out to Repsol Honda riders Joan Mir and Marc Marquez this week.

Marquez, who spent his Friday practice comparing the old bike with the new bike, says the new bike feels better every lap, but the fundamental problems remain, especially acceleration.

“Today was a very tough day mentally because you will have to completely change your driving style because of this new aero,” said Marquez. I achieved this step by step, I was getting better every lap,” he said.

“It is true that I am the only Honda rider who has driven both bikes. Actually, I made a few mistakes this morning, the new bike changes the braking point a lot, it changes the way you approach the corner a lot," said Marquez. "But in the second practice, I started to feel better, so zamI decided to use the new motorcycle for my moment tour,” he said.

“To be honest, I was pretty borderline on my first lap. I needed a different riding style and a different approach to cornering,” said Marquez.
