The Supreme Military Council (YAS) is meeting today under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

At the YAŞ meeting at the Presidential Complex, the members of the Council were Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of Staff. Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and Air Force Commander General Atilla Gülan will attend.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin will attend the Supreme Military Council meeting for the first time.
YAŞ members will visit Anıtkabir before the meeting.

PROMOTION AND APPOINTMENT DECISIONS ARE WAITING

One of the most important topics expected to be brought to the agenda at YAŞ is the name to be appointed as the Chief of General Staff, which was vacated after Yaşar Güler became the Minister of National Defense. After Güler became the Minister, Land Forces Commander Musa Avsever was also appointed as the Chief of General Staff. At the meeting, the person who will carry out this task will be determined.

Among the names that could be the Chief of the General Staff are the 2nd Army Commander, General Metin Gürak, the 1st Army Commander, General Ali Sivri, and the 2nd Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.

At the meeting, the promotion and assignment files of generals and admirals will be discussed, as well as the promotions of colonels, the extension of their terms of office. While the YAŞ studies are expected to be completed in one day, the decisions of the Council are expected to be announced to the public after Erdoğan's approval.
