Alfa Romeo is going through a tough time in the 2023 Formula 1 season. The team, which placed sixth in the constructors' championship last year, has been one of the slowest teams at the start of the season this year.

"We can't compare this season to last season," Alfa Romeo managing director Alessandro Alunni Bravi told Speedcafe. “We finished sixth last season, which was the best result of the last decade for our team. But we fell behind in the second part of the season and we started this year from that point.”

Bravi said the team is currently the seventh or eighth fastest team. However, he said that the team will bring new parts for the Italian Grand Prix and that these parts will help the team move forward.

“We already have a plan for the season,” Bravi said. “We look forward to the next major update around Monza and then of course another major update around Suzuka. So we have a plan.”

Bravi said the team needed major updates. “0.1 seconds is not enough,” he said. “Of course, where you need to rally, we must prepare updates that allow us to take an important step forward.”

Bravi said the updates the team will bring are big and important. “We want each update to bring us 0.2 to 0.3 seconds,” he said.

Bravi said that updates are not an easy task. “This is not an easy thing of course because if it was an easy job everybody would do it,” he said.

Alfa Romeo will compete with new parts at the Italian Grand Prix and expects the team to rise in the standings.
