Lamborghini goes electric! The hybrid-powered Revuelto marked the Italian supercar manufacturer's first big step towards electrification, and the first all-electric Lamborghini will be on the market in a few years. The Italian automaker will showcase an electric concept vehicle during this year's Monterey Car Week event.

Lamborghini has announced that it will showcase its new electric concept vehicle during the Monterey Car Week event on August 18. This vehicle will be the first prototype of Lamborghini's fourth production vehicle and is scheduled to go on sale in 2028.

It is not yet known how the new electric concept vehicle will look or with which power source it will work. However, if this is indeed a preview of an upcoming production car, it could be a four-seat Grand Tourer (GT), according to the latest news. This model is the second all-electric concept following the Terzo Millenio (the vehicle in the photos) and will sit alongside Lamborghini's other four-seat concept cars such as the Estoque and Asterion.

But according to CEO Stephan Winkelmann, this new electric Lamborghini will not be built entirely on the Lamborghini platform. Instead, it will share some components with the Volkswagen Group and possibly become an EV platform for other in-group brands like Bentley and Porsche.

Lamborghini's electrification is part of a larger trend in the automotive industry. Automakers around the world are shifting towards electric vehicles as environmental regulations tighten and electric vehicles become more affordable. Lamborghini is investing in electric vehicles to keep up with this trend and wants to be a pioneer in this field.
