The 20th Shanghai International Automobile and Manufacturing Technology Expo (2023 Auto Shanghai) kicked off today at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center.

2023 Auto Shanghai, the world's largest auto show and the first A-level auto show of this year, attracts great attention from all segments of society with its highly valuable exhibition content and global qualities.

The auto show covers more than 360 thousand square meters of exhibition space. The total number of visitors is expected to reach 1 million at the fair, where more than a thousand companies participate.

At present, China's new energy auto industry continues its rapid development momentum, and the trend of smart applications and technology is becoming more and more prominent. In the first quarter of this year, the cumulative retail sales of passenger cars in China reached 4,26 million, while the wholesale and retail sales of new-energy passenger cars reached 1,50 and 1,31 million.

New energy vehicle production and sales in China last year exceeded 96,7 million and 93,4 million, up 7,06 percent and 6,89 percent over the previous year. Production and sales of new-energy vehicles in China have held the first place in the world for the past eight years.

Many auto companies will launch new automotive technologies such as smartening electrification at the show.

According to data from Shanghai Customs, a total of 25 batches of imported exhibits worth US$123 million were declared for this year's auto show.
