The Italian government reacted: Alfa Romeo Milano's name changed

"Milano", the first sports city vehicle in Alfa Romeo's history and whose 100 percent electric version will also be offered to world markets, has been officially introduced.

The world launch of Alfa Romeo Milano is a tribute to Milan, the city from which it takes its name and where everything about the brand began on June 24, 1910.

Reaction came from Italy

The car will be produced at the factory in Tychy, Poland, and will also be the first Alfa Romeo model produced entirely outside Italy.

Italian Business Minister Adolfo Urso criticized Stellantis' decision to produce Alfa Romeo's first fully electric vehicle (EV), Milano, in a different country and said that this was against the law.

In his statement, Minister Urso referred to a 2003 law that prohibits terms that may mislead consumers: “A product named Milan cannot be produced in Poland. “This is prohibited compared to Italian articles.” had used the words.

Alfa Romeo changed the name of Milan

Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato announced that they changed the name of the Milano model to Junior in order to ease relations with the Italian government.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares announced that producing the Milano model in Poland reduced costs.
