Tesla plans to lay off 400 people at its Germany factory

Tesla, the world's most well-known electric car manufacturer, produced 433 thousand 371 vehicles in the first quarter.

While the number of vehicles delivered by Tesla in the first quarter of this year was 386 thousand 810, this number was well below the market expectations of around 450 thousand. In the same period last year, 422 thousand 875 vehicles were delivered.

Thus, the number of vehicles delivered by Tesla decreased by 8,5 percent for the first time since 2020.

Employees will pay the bill

Tesla wants to compensate for the blows it took from falling sales and price cuts by laying off more than 10 percent of its global workforce. This means more than 13 thousand employees.

400 people are fired in Germany

In the statement made by the company, it was stated that 400 people are planned to be laid off at Tesla's factory in Germany, and this is intended to be done through a voluntary program instead of compulsory layoffs.

The statement also included information that negotiations were held with the labor board of the giga factory in Germany for voluntary layoffs.

More than 12 thousand people work at Tesla's Gruenheide facility. Last week, it was announced that the factory would part ways with approximately 300 temporary employees.
