How to Boost Battery?

If your vehicle does not start or your battery is dead, you need to recharge the battery to start the vehicle. So how is battery boosted? How to connect the battery jumper cable in the most correct way? Here is the most accurate and easiest method to boost your battery.

Battery Boost Steps

  • Step 1: Turn off elements such as headlights, multimedia and interior lighting of the vehicle with a dead battery.
  • Step: Remove the vehicle's battery protective covers, if any.
  • Step 1: Connect the red (+) end of the jumper cable to the battery (+) terminal of the vehicle with a dead battery. Connect the other end of the red cable to the (+) terminal of the vehicle with a charged battery.
  • Step 1: Connect the black (-) end of the jumper cable to the battery (-) terminal of the vehicle with a charged vehicle. Connect the other end of the black cable to the (-) terminal of the vehicle with a dead battery. (Or connect it to any metal part on the body of the vehicle.)
  • Step 1: After completing the cable connections, start the vehicle with a full battery.
  • Step 1: After waiting for a short time, start the vehicle with a dead battery.
  • Step: After the vehicle with a dead battery starts, first disconnect the cables connected to the negative (-) terminals of the batteries. Then disconnect the cables at the positive (+) terminal of the batteries.

Important Reminders

Although the battery boosting process seems simple, it is necessary to pay attention to some important details. For example, boosting vehicles with Start-Stop feature is not recommended. Additionally, boosting between batteries with different amperage values can be risky. During the reinforcement process, be careful not to let the cables come into contact with high-temperature areas. Finally, make sure there is no contact between metal objects and cables.
