The Aegean Rally, the second race of the Petrol Ofisi Maxima 2024 Turkish Rally Championship, is celebrating its 33rd anniversary in Marmaris. Marmaris, where the Mediterranean and the Aegean intersect and has won the admiration of the whole world with its magnificent nature, has also hosted the Turkey Rally and the World Rally Championship 3 times in the past.
Marmaris Aegean Rally, which is organized by the Aegean Automobile Sports Club (EOSK) and will be run on asphalt ground, will start with the start ceremony at Marmaris Atatürk Square on Friday, March 22, at 18:00, and will be held at İçmeler Market Place at 18:43. The rally will continue with the special audience stage. The teams, which will start the day early on Saturday, March 23, will complete the tour, which consists of 3 stages and includes the İçmeler, Bördübet, Selimiye route, and return to the service area. The day will end at the Highways service area at 16:28, with the same tour being repeated once again in the afternoon. The teams will pass the stages in Akyaka, Kıran and Akbük once each on Sunday, March 24, the last day of the rally. The excitement will end with the award ceremony to be held at the podium in Marmaris Atatürk Square, starting from 14:00.
Burcu Çetinkaya, who was elected as the president of the International Automobile Federation FIA Women's Commission, will be co-piloted by Michele Mouton and Fabrizia Pons, the first female co-driver to win a race in the World Rally Championship. Volkan Işık, one of the legendary athletes of the Turkish Rally Championship, is returning to the stages with the Hyundai I20 R5 on behalf of GP Garage My Team. In addition, the famous artist Fatma Turgut, known for her interest in automobile sports, will be in the pilot seat of the 000 pioneer security vehicle. The young and sympathetic star will pass all stages with an electric car as the leading vehicle for the first time in the history of the Turkish Rally Championship, within the scope of the environmental awareness project of the Marmaris Aegean Rally. Activities such as leaving seeds to nature and cleaning the environment on the routes where the stages are passed are also included in the rally program.
