The disease is over in olives in Izmir, yield increased

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality did not let the farmers' olives fall on the ground with Mayor Tunç Soyer's vision of "Another Agriculture is Possible". Within the scope of combating the "Ring Spot on Olives" disease, approximately 862 tons of claret slurry were donated to 58 producers. The use of chemical pesticides was also prevented with the application, which both reduced the producer's input costs and doubled the yield. In line with the "Another Agriculture Possible" vision of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, production conditions of rural farmers continue to be improved. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which started to fight against the "Ring Spot" disease that occurs on olive trees, one of the important sources of income of Izmir farmers, started the treatment of olive trees with claret slurry, which does not contain chemicals. With this application, the use of chemical pesticides was prevented and it was possible to produce healthy and high-quality fruits.862 tons of Bordeaux Slurry for 58 producers
Agricultural engineers of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality visited villages and gave information to olive producers about the claret slurry and demonstrated its use. Within the scope of the practice that started in 2019, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality distributed approximately 862 tons of claret slurry to a total of 58 producers in Aliağa, Bayındır, Selçuk, Menderes, Karaburun and Urla.“Everyone is very satisfied”
The final distribution of the application, which increases the yield and quality of olives, was made in Urla Kadıovacık. Farmers from Urla, who have been benefiting from claret slurry support for two years, said that productivity has increased. Kadıovacık Neighborhood Headman Ümit Özdemir said, “We benefited from the claret slurry support initiated by our President Tunç with the vision of Another Agriculture Possible. The villagers are very pleased. On behalf of my village, I would like to thank our mayor and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. There was a decrease in products. As productivity increased, citizens were also pleased. The primary agricultural production here is olive growing. We attach great importance to olives. Our President Tunç was with us not only in agricultural support but also in many areas. Public transportation came to our village. "It was very useful for us in terms of saplings and consultancy," he said.“We also feel happy when we see olives like that.”
Aydın Eren, producer from Kadıovacık, said, “I was very pleased. Even the joy of the trees has increased. There is no such thing as a stain. I shot it twice last year, and I will shoot it twice this year as well. There are more missing items, I will continue them. I think it is useful. The trees took on a very different color. The trees used to turn yellow. We also feel happy when we see olives like this. We sell olive oil and dates. "We, children, parents, eat together," he said.“We got twice the crop”
Cevat Çağhan said, “I was really pleased. Thank you very much for the support given. We received twice the crop we received every year. It both strengthened the leaves and did not spill the olives on the ground. It shed every year, but it didn't shed this year. We will throw the burgundy mixture again. "It would be great if the support continues," he said.“It was burdensome”
Gürkan Özkan said, “We started the application last year. Starting tomorrow, we will apply our new application to our olives. Since our olives grew without water, one year it was a year of existence and the other year it was a year of absence. We didn't have the equipment, it was cumbersome to get the claret mixture. But it was very good when it was granted. Since there are no chemicals in the Bordeaux paste, it does no harm. "We will continue to implement it," he said.
