China Will Promote the Use of New Energy Vehicles

China will redouble its efforts to optimize the necessary policies to stimulate the consumption of new energy vehicles and accelerate the pace of high-quality development of this sector. Speaking at a press conference, Jin Xiandong, one of the officials in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out that policies and measures for the promotion of new energy vehicles will be accelerated. According to Jin, the commission will ensure that new energy vehicles become widespread in rural areas and promote the electrification of vehicles in the public sector and relevant departments.

Pointing out that scientific and technical innovation will be revitalized in the new energy vehicle industry, Jin also stated that the leading role of Chinese automobile manufacturing companies in innovation will be used to the fullest in order to increase the competitiveness of the new energy vehicle industry. It was also reported that the Commission will create a high-quality charging infrastructure system and its operation and service processes will be optimized.

In 2023, the production of new energy vehicles exceeded 9,58 million units and sales exceeded 9,49 million units. These numbers represent an increase of 35,8 percent and 37,98 percent, respectively, on a yearly basis, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Exports of new energy vehicles reached 2023 million units in 77,6, recording an increase of 1,2 percent compared to the previous year.
