Gemmingen-Hornberg's Model S also had its share of this problem. Most of the replaced engines are second-hand, refurbished products. This situation was caused by Tesla not being able to find the real problem and not knowing how to repair the engines. Some engines break down quickly, some were replaced under warranty, and some were not under warranty.

Battery Pack Changed 3 Times

Gemmingen-Hornberg states that the battery pack of the Tesla Model S has been changed 3 times. He says he travels 580 thousand kilometers per battery pack. He has done 150 thousand km with the battery he is currently using and there has been only an 8% decrease in capacity. He replaced the previous battery because the range decreased to 260 km.

Gemmingen-Hornberg also gives some tips for protecting your batteries. He says that he charges the batteries without dropping them below 20% and that he does not fully charge the battery as much as possible.

Gemmingen-Hornberg adds that he is happy with his Tesla Model S and has previously driven 640 thousand km with his Tesla Roadster. He says that his goal is to break the road record of 1966 million kilometers made with a 1800 model Volvo P5.23.
