In 2023, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality provided services to stray animals with Patilik Memnun Stray Animals Town, Gebze Stray Animals Temporary Care Home and Rehabilitation Center, and Portable Sterilization Vehicle. While various treatments were applied to 10 thousand 17 stray animals brought to the centers due to accidents and other reasons, 4 thousand 209 stray animals (cats and dogs) were adopted.
14 THOUSAND 940 STREET ANIMALS WERE NEUTRALIZED
Patilik Joyful Stray Animals Town on Kandıra road, within the Department of Health and Social Services, continued to serve 2023 days a week in 7. In the center, where all kinds of facilities are provided for animals, 10 thousand 615 dogs and 4 thousand 325 cats were neutered. Authorities stated that all care was taken during the neutering surgery, especially rabies vaccination, external parasites (fleas, ticks, etc.) and internal parasites (worms, cysts, etc.) treatments were applied. Additionally, numbered ear tags are worn during the surgery. The stray animal hosted in Patilik Pleasant Stray Animal Town is returned to the place where it was taken after it becomes beautiful. Authorities state that if a dog without an ear tag or an aggressive dog is seen, the district municipality should be called immediately.
A WARM HOME FOR 4 THOUSAND 209 ANIMALS
In 2023, Patilik Joyful Stray Animals Town, Gebze Stray Animals Temporary Care Home and Rehabilitation Center and Portable Sterilization Vehicle provided services to stray animals. While various treatments were applied to 10 thousand 17 stray animals brought to the centers due to accidents and other reasons, 4 thousand 209 stray animals (cats and dogs) were adopted. Stray animals were treated for everything from traffic accidents to internal and external parasite treatments, from upper respiratory tract infections to viral infections.
PATILİK MEMNU STREET ANIMALS TOWN
The Metropolitan Municipality, which has developed many projects for Stray Animals, undertakes all the care of the little friends with the Patilik Enjoyable Stray Animal Town Project. While the Metropolitan teams, which provide all care at the center from cancer to the smallest diseases, were pioneers in Turkey regarding stray animals, 8 thousand 914 citizens visited the centers throughout the year.
FOOD SUPPORT TO NGOS AND ANIMAL LOVERS
Continuing to provide all kinds of services to our little friends living on the streets, the Metropolitan Municipality helps feed stray animals who are facing difficult times with the cold weather and snowfall. In this context, teams of the Department of Health and Social Services distributed 16 thousand 785 kg of cat food, 27 thousand 555 kg of dog food and 8 thousand 145 kg of puppy food, a total of 52 thousand 485 kg of food to the district municipalities. 106 thousand 500 kg of cat, dog and puppy food was distributed to animal lovers all over the city. In addition, in 2023, feeding activities were carried out in rural areas using 1 thousand 2 kg of food at 55 points with 4 vehicle and 125 workers.
