Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Discontinued! Here's Why

Porsche is one of the leading brands of luxury and performance cars. Porsche entered the sedan segment with the Panamera model and achieved great success. Porsche started offering the Panamera model in a station wagon body type under the name Sport Turismo in 2017. However, Porsche announced that it will not produce the Sport Turismo version of the newly introduced Panamera.

Sport Turismo Had Low Sales Figures

Porsche explained the reason for its decision to withdraw the Panamera Sport Turismo model from the market. A Porsche official told Automotive News Europe that Sport Turismo had low sales figures. The official said, “Sport Turismo has very low sales figures in the Chinese and US markets, which are our main target in the D segment. That's why we're ending production.” said.

Porsche did not separately disclose the sales figures of Panamera Sport Turismo. But according to Autocar's research, Sport Turismo's market share was below 10%. This showed that Sport Turismo was in much less demand than its sedan version.

Sport Turismo Had a Hatchback Body Type

Although Porsche described the Panamera Sport Turismo model as a station wagon, it actually had a hatchback body type. Hatchback meant that the boot lid opened along with the rear window. In this way, Sport Turismo offered a larger luggage volume than the sedan version. However, Sport Turismo had a shorter and lower design than the classic station wagons.

Porsche did not offer the Panamera Sport Turismo model in the first generation of the Panamera. Sport Turismo was launched in 2017 in the second generation of the Panamera. The Sport Turismo had all the Panamera's engine options. Sport Turismo, same zamIt also attracted attention with its hybrid version.

Panamera Will Continue with Sedan and Executive Versions Only

Porsche stopped producing the Panamera Sport Turismo model. Porsche will only offer sedan and Executive versions of the newly introduced Panamera. The Executive version had a longer wheelbase than the sedan version. It was stated that Panamera would be the last generation to carry an internal combustion engine. Panamera was available with four different plug-in hybrid options. A fully electric Panamera was not in the plans. Because Porsche was offering Taycan as a fully electric model.

If you like the Sport Turismo body style, you can now switch to Taycan instead of Panamera and enjoy the dual-ratio electric motor. No, I want to continue with gasoline, but if you say I don't want to leave the Volkswagen Group, the Audi RS6 Avant, a complete station wagon, comes to your rescue. While another strong candidate competing in a similar league is the BMW M3 Touring and the M5 Touring, which has been announced to join us again, the Mercedes AMG E63 Estate is also one of the models that intensifies the competition.
