$9 Million Compensation to Fast and Furious 1 Stuntman
Fast and Furious 9, the last movie of the Fast and Furious series, was a great success at the box office. However, the film ended up in court due to an accident that occurred on the set. Joe Watts, who worked as a stuntman in the film, was seriously injured when he fell from a height of 8 meters during a scene. Stuntman Joe Watts Survived
The accident occurred during filming in England in 2019. While Joe Watts was reenacting the scene where he fell from the balcony, he crashed into the concrete floor as a result of the tension rope opening. Watts was taken to intensive care due to skull damage. Although Watts managed to avoid life-threatening injuries, it was stated that he suffered memory loss after the accident and received physical therapy.
The court ruled that the production company was negligent regarding the accident. According to the court decision, although the first attempt of the scene went smoothly, the rope had to be checked again before the second attempt. Additionally, the floor mat had to be wider to prevent possible accidents. The judge said Watts was very lucky to have survived.
