Alfa Romeo's new super car, 33 Stradale, was introduced recently. This car received great acclaim for both its design and performance. But did you know that the 33 Stradale has a surprise relative? Yes, you heard right. The relative of this car is Maserati's new super car, MC20!
The MC20 Was Actually Born as an Alfa Romeo Model
When the Maserati MC20 was first spied in 2020, it looked very similar to the Alfa Romeo 4C. The reason for this was that the MC20 actually started its life as an Alfa Romeo model. Speaking to CarExpert, Alfa Product Manager Daniel Guzzafame said that they started the development of the MC20 as Alfa Romeo, but it was later transformed into another project within Stellantis.
33 Similarities and Differences Between Stradale and MC20
Although the MC20 was born as Alfa Romeo, its connection with the 33 Stradale was not completely severed. The 33 Stradale was built using the MC20's platform, but Alfa Romeo developed a new body and suspension system for its supercar. In this way, the 33 Stradale has a lighter and more aerodynamic structure.
Both supercars offer different engine options. Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale produces 2.9 horsepower and 6 Nm of torque with its 510-liter V600 engine. Maserati MC20, on the other hand, provides 6 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque with its twin-turbo V730 engine called Nettuno. Additionally, both models use different transmissions. The 33 Stradale is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the MC20 comes with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Also Has an Electric Version
Alfa Romeo's supercar is not only available with an internal combustion engine, but also in a fully electric version. The electric 33 Stradale produces a total of 600 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque with four electric motors. This model has also been the most ordered version since it went on sale.
Alfa Romeo's new supercar, the 33 Stradale, proved that it is related to the Maserati MC20 in terms of both design and performance. Both models stand before us as the best examples of Italian automotive art.
