Opel unveiled its new Experimental EV concept, which it has shared hint images of for a while, today. Appearing as a 100% electric coupe crossover, the Opel Experimental EV sheds light on the future product range of the brand, both in design and technology.

The new Opel Experimental EV concept will be exhibited for the first time at the IAA Mobility Fair in Munich in September. Opel states that the concept in question is built on what it describes as the "state-of-the-art Stellantis platform". We can think of it as the STLA platform, or even the STLA Medium platform, as it falls into the C segment according to the dimensions of the concept.

The concept, which has four-wheel drive, also has a "steer by wire" system. This means that instead of a mechanical link, an all-electronic system is used to control the steering in the vehicle. Thanks to the system in question, there is no need for a steering wheel. zamIn moments (such as autonomous driving), the steering wheel can be completely hidden inside the console.

According to the German brand's statement, the Opel Experimental EV concept offers a stylish look, with high-contrast graphics highlighting the coupe crossover silhouette and lighting elements including logos. One of the most striking features of the concept is that there are no chrome parts on its body.

Moving parts in the body of the concept also attract attention. In addition to the air flaps located at the front and rear, the rear diffuser also has a design that can be extended or folded back to increase aerodynamic efficiency depending on the driving condition. The aerodynamically designed wheels are also surrounded by tires made of recycled rubber, developed in collaboration with Goodyear.

The futuristic interior of the Opel Experimental EV is completely cleared of the screens used extensively in today's cars. Instead, holograms and a head-up display extending across the windshield are used. The driver can access the multimedia system called “Pure Experience” through customizable controls on the center console or voice commands supported by artificial intelligence.

The Opel Experimental EV concept demonstrates the brand's focus on electric vehicles and its ambitions for its future product line. The concept brings together the brand's new designs and technologies and demonstrates Opel's ambition to become a key player in the electric vehicle market.
