New BMW M2 CS spotted during testing

BMW is working on the hotter M2 CS model. Although the vehicle appears in camouflage in spy photos, we can see the coupe model being tested on public roads and with design changes.

While we haven't seen the interior yet, it's thought BMW won't make any major changes. The M2 was introduced with dash-spanning Curved Display technology running the brand's latest iDrive software, and the M2 CS model is expected to feature the same arrangement. The top of the screen can be seen in the spy footage.

The hotter M2 model is expected to have a version of the brand's S58 engine. Rumors have it that the biturbo 3.0-liter inline-six will produce at least 500 horsepower. That's a pretty impressive performance boost, outpacing even the M3. The standard M2 model, on the other hand, offers 453 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque with its standard powertrain.

While the standard M2 is offered with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, it is stated that the M2 CS model will only come with an automatic transmission. It is stated that the automatic transmission option is the only option to get a faster M2 version. While the 2-0km/h acceleration of the M97 with manual transmission is 4.1 seconds, it is said that this time will be 3.9 seconds in the automatic transmission version.

The M2 CS model is expected to be launched in 2023.
