Hyundai Motor Group and Seoul National University establish joint battery research center

Hyundai Motor Group and Seoul National University announced that they have established a joint research center to develop battery technology for electric vehicles. The center will be located within Seoul National University's expanded Institute of Chemical Processing and will occupy 901 square meters.

The center will include 7 laboratories and 1 conference room for battery development, analysis, measurement and other processes. The center will be established for the first time in the university for electric cars and will bring experienced engineers and expert opinion leaders to the automotive industry.

Euisun Chung, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, said: “Our mission of mobility solutions equipped with advanced batteries is part of our goals towards a sustainable environment for future generations. “With our joint research and development investments, we aim to play an important role in the mobility industry's transition to electrification.”

Hong Lim Ryu, President of Seoul National University, said, “The Joint Battery Research Center will be a new starting point for Hyundai Motor Group's advanced battery technology. It will be effective in all processes from the development of batteries to laying the foundations of various innovations by creating a joint synergy with the competent researchers of our faculty and graduate students of Hyundai Motor Group.”
