Horner: “Competition will be tougher next year”

Red Bull have won all 8 races so far this season, with Max Verstappen winning eight races in a row. It remains to be seen whether the team will become the first team in F12 history to win all races in one season.

Speaking on the ESPN Unlapped podcast, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is still cautious about it: “The second team changes every week. Ferrari one week, Mercedes the next, now McLaren and Aston Martin were there at the beginning of the year. So every time we look over our shoulder, there's someone else there, and that helped us in many ways, but the grid is very close together."

After a series of measures taken to reduce the bounce problem affecting some teams this season, there will be no major changes to the vehicles next year. Red Bull also has an aerodynamic test restriction penalty until October, which will be applied in addition to the reduction they received for winning the Constructors' Championship.

Horner expects this to play an important role in the championship defense: “As long as there's stability in the rules, it's all right. zamAt the moment there will be convergence on the grid. If you want a close race, leave the rules alone. Each zamYou will find teams and vehicles approaching each other. So I expect next year to be completely different from this year.”

Horner believes their team is in a strong position for next year, but also knows that it won't be easy. "Each zam"There will be new teams that will fight at the moment," he says. “But we each zamWe will try to be the best at the moment.”
