Honda officially announced on May 24 that it has signed with Aston Martin and will return to Formula 1 as an engine supplier.

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) President Koji Watanabe explained how they prepared for this project and how it differs from previous projects in Formula 1.

“A new department is being created within the company that will take care of everything related to F1 and this is a very important moment for us,” said Watanabe. said.

“Until now, our work has been divided into separate projects to which human and financial resources have been allocated. Once a project was completed, everything fell apart and then the whole process was repeated.”

“But we are evolving and HRC will now be responsible for all of Honda's racing programmes. Of course, there is a certain budget allocated to us. This budget is spent on developing future-proof technologies, including the transition to carbon-neutral fuel, high-efficiency engines, batteries, and the like.”

“Even in our collaboration with the Aston Martin team, we not only support the company, but also zamAt the moment we want to make the HRC as financially independent as possible. So we can continue to operate in Formula 1.

Regarding potential income prospects, Watanabe said, “It would be best if we could generate these revenues only from our racing programs, but in reality it is unlikely.” said.

“Therefore, we want to increase the value of our brand by performing well on the racetrack first, and then develop a range of services that HRC can provide to generate additional revenues in the future.”

“We want all of our experts to create new things instead of just sitting at their desks in their offices and developing materials.”

“We are creating a new organization, a new culture, and from now on we will try to train our own staff within the HRC.”

“All of this is symbolized by our F2026 program, which will start in 1. Honda and HRC's goal in motorsport is to explore and share new areas of work with our fans through activities in Formula 1. said.
