Turkish car market breaks record in July

The Turkish automobile and light commercial vehicle market increased by 2023% in July 115,4 compared to the same month of the previous year. This increase was 10% above the average of the last 83,1 years. A total of 112.459 units were sold in July. Of these sales, 85.916 were automobiles and 26.543 light commercial vehicles.

January-July period is also running a record. In this period, a total of 668.828 sales were made. This means an increase of 63,1% compared to the same period last year.

Close to 90 percent of the automobile market is made up of the A, B and C segments with low tax rates. The biggest share among this trio belongs to the C segment with 281.127 units.

In body types, SUVs continue to strengthen their position at the top. SUVs accounted for almost 50 percent of automobile sales this year, with the closest competitor sedans taking a 27.9 percent share of the pie.

When the automobile market is evaluated according to fuel type, we see that gasoline models are pushing the top. Gasoline cars account for almost 70 percent of sales this year. Diesel models have a share of 84.336 percent with 16.3 units, while hybrid models have a share of 53.049 percent with 10.3 units.

As of the end of July, a total of 17.307 electric cars were sold.

These data show that the Turkish automobile and light commercial vehicle market is growing rapidly. This growth is expected to continue.
