China is rising fast in the electric mobility industry. Leading Chinese automakers and battery manufacturers such as BYD, CATL and Farasis Energy aim to increase their dominance in Europe as part of their global expansion strategies, threatening the supremacy of automakers in the European region.

The World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC), China's electric mobility exhibition, will be held for the first time outside of China on September 6 as part of the IAA Mobility event in Munich. According to the German automotive industry association VDA, which is the organizer, almost twice as many Chinese companies will participate compared to the IAA held in Munich in 2021. Chinese exhibitors and WNEVC will make IAA Mobility a more international event, said Jürgen Mindel, Managing Director of VDA. “Our cooperation with WNEVC marks an important sign for cooperation between Germany and China,” he said.

Chinese automakers BYD, MG Motor, Xpeng, Leapmotor, Seres and Dongfeng are attending the IAA Mobility event, which will be held publicly from September 5-10. Xpeng and Leapmotor are in discussions with Volkswagen about licensing their electric platforms in China.

IAA Mobility is Europe's and Germany's largest auto show, and after many years held in Frankfurt, it has now moved to Munich. Other Chinese companies such as CATL, Farasis Energy and Horizon Robotics will also take part in the event.

Do you think Chinese automakers will be able to replace European manufacturers? The answer to this question depends on many factors. It is important to note that Chinese automakers do not yet have the technological and production experience that European manufacturers have. However, Chinese automakers are learning and growing fast. In addition, China offers a large market for electric mobility. Therefore, it is possible for Chinese automakers to replace European manufacturers. However, what is this zamIt is not yet clear when and how it will happen.
